USB extenders and/or repeaters?

I couldn't find a newsgroup dedicated to USB, so
feel free to point me to a more appropriate NG.

A friend of mine is working on an application in which
there will be an outdorrs USB camera, by itself, away from
civilization (actually is a remote, unmanned car entrance
in a country club). There's no money to put a PC next to
the camera, and the PC will be in the offices.

The basic problem is how to carry the USB signals
without degradation about 100 yards. I found some
USB repeaters in the net. Could you folks comment on
this? Are those repeaters daisy-chainable?

Try X10.com they cary a variety of cameras that transmit to a video input device.
