Although this may not be a Windows issue, the drivers for my USB ports do not
read most peripherals plugged in, and almost always comes up with a message
stating that the object does not pass the verification, as well as it stating
that devices are constantly malfunctioning. I did research into this problem
and most people who have this, witnessed this on Windows 98, and not Windows
XP, also the computer reads the Hubs as 1.1 ports instead of the 2.0 ports.
Any suggestions?

My parents' USB 2.0 ports got wrecked by a couple of Windows Critical Updates
from mid-December 2005. Nothing really works on the PCI card USB 2.0/Firewire
ports this year. Have not seen your error message, but the peripherals work fine
on my Win98SE but are at risk of imminent destruction on the Win XP Home machine
my parents have.

I'm thinking of uninstalling the USB drivers for the PCI card, installing the
two offending critical updates, then reinstalling the USB drivers for the PCI
card.

On a side, possibly irrelevant note, my computer is constantly trying to
install a windows update (KB900485), however after the message says that
installation is complete, it comes up with another window trying to install
it once again, would these be related/conflicting with my original problem?
