When I plug in a USB device to a computer the computer doesn't always
recognize that there is something attached to the port. I can wait for days
& still not have it recognized. I have had this happen on a variety of
computers & with more than one device. Is there any way to TELL Windows you
just plugged something in and your want it recognized?
I have had this happen with a variety of flash drives and external hard
drives (not just one). Also with a variety of computer with Windows 2000, XP
Professional, and XP Pro with SP1. I can not install SP2 as the network
admin has forbidden it. This is becoming very annoying......
I can have a computer recognize the device one day, come back the next and
it refuses to find it. Sometimes rebooting will help. If I use the
'Unplug/Eject Hardware' option, the computer usually won't recognize that
device in any port until the computer is shut down and restarted.
Any suggestions?
