Ben

Over the past couple of weeks my computer will randomly
get a USB device not recognized error. What happens is my
mouse and keyboard are completely shut off at the same
time. The mouse and keyboard work fine up until this
error occurs.

I realize that this may be some sort of hack or trojan in
my computer, and have tried nortan antivirus, however it
found nothing. I have updated all my windows security
files and everything yet it keeps happening.

I'm running on windows xp and the error is shown at the
bottom, however i am obviously unable to click on it due
to not being able to use my mouse or keyboard. Any help
would be appreciated.

Have you ensured that your PC is not set to turn off the USB controller
after a certain time to save power?

In the Device Manager, click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers, then click
on each USB entry... and you'll see the Power Management tab.
