Motherboard Asus a7n8x-e
Box says that it has 6 usb ports.
Question is. There are two on the motherboard. There is a bar that you hang
in one of the pci slots for another two that plug into the motherboard. Now
the case haze two in the front that would make six but I see no place to
plug them in. Anyone have any idea.

There is one pinout on the motherboard for the USB 2.0 connector that goes
into a slot cover hole. There are 4 USB ports already installed next to
the serial and parallel ports. That is 6 USB ports total as advertised.

Just because your case has front ports doesn't mean the motherboard can
use them. You need to research that before buying parts. You could
probably modify the pci slot USB cable that plugs into the motherboard to
go to the case front though.

thanks I didn't notice that.

According to the pics of the mobo on Newegg the A7n8x-e has 4 usb ports on the
mobo and another port for 2 more, EITHER the front usb connectors OR the pci
slot connector included with the accessories.

My manual for the 2 A7n8x-dx boards that I am using shows the front/pci slot bar
connection on the mobo on page 31, under USB Headers.

You can have two more, either the fron ones that are part of the case
(preferred, if you can ensure the connections are correct), or the
ones on the slot plate.

As others have pointed out, there are 4 at the back. Instead of using
the extra 2 usb ports that connect to the motherboard and go at the rear
(in what otherwise would be occupied by a PCI card), carefully make sure
the case USB connectors from the case match up properly with the USB
pins on the motherboard header and use the case ports instead.
