USB (apparently) related stop error

Today I was faced with this XP Pro stop error:

BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER

and

STOP: FE (0X0000005, 0X864670E0, 0X11063035, 0X86406180)

I haven't installed any new usb device in 3-4 weeks, and the Device
Manager doesn't show any problems with USB (though it does show a
problem with an audio driver).

Any ideas?

There are two articles that deal with this error in the Microsoft
Knowledge Base. Maybe one of them will be relevant to your problem,
although the second one is less likely because of your comments about
device manager:
