Hi, I have Dell D600 laptop with Win XP Home. I usually use a USB optical
mouse with it, but recently I got some small USB accessories (e.g. fan,
light). However, as soon as I plug those into the second USB port, my mouse
no longer works (the red optical light turns off). Does anybody know what's
up with that? Thanks in advance.

BTW, are there any Microsoft support IRC channels/servers?

It sounds like the USB port is underpowered. You may need to get an
externam USB hub that is self powered to get past this problem.

I would say that is definitely the problem. After I
installed the Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse (USB
receiver) my USB Pockey drive would shut off at odd moments.
I installed a USB hub with its own power supply, put the
Pockey on that, and have never had any problems of this sort
since.
