I bought a CMS ABS drive to back up my system.I installed
an IOgear 2.0 card to connect to the drive. I have since
had to reinstall XP and do all the updates, including SP1
Then my USB 2.0 wouldn't run. IOgear provided me with a
driver and it seemed to work but it is taking a lot
longer to do a back up and sometimes it hangs.I have read
that SP 1 supports usb 2.0. Iwas wondering if I may have
some kind of conflict.

You really need the SP1 drivers. Unfortunately there is a catch 22
occurs if you have original XP without USB 2.0 and do an express
update. It seems that because you had no USB 2.0 drivers then it does
not see need to install the SP1 ones. One way is to install makers
drivers *before* doing the SP1. The other approach which I think should
work is to get them from the Windows Update under the Win2000 system -
they appear to be the same. Go to Windows Update, on the left click on
Windows update Catalog. Now on the right take 'Find drivers'. Take
'Other Hardware' at the bottom, then select Microsoft Corp; Windows 2000
Pro RTM; and type USB into the Contains box

The top item should be USB drivers 5.1.2600 - which is the XP SP1
designation. THey are for NEC and VIA controller chips. Download and
see if they do it.
