I have an ASUS P4B533-vm. I cannot get the USB2.0 ports
to work. I have done a fresh install of XP SP1, installed
the latest INF, and then updated windows. When I connect
it says "high speed device connected to a NON-high speed
hub...blah blah" In devie manager everything looks fine,
no errors. I have spoken to ASUS, thier tech support is
terrible, it might aswell be mickey mouse on the other
end of the phone. Does anybody know how to fix this
problem. What I have ready on microsofts web page does
not help.

cheers

Sometimes it is necessary to force the driver update. Remove the USB
Host Controller in Device Manager, reboot, and see if the "Enhanced" USB
Host Controller is detected.

Q

If the connection is directly to the motherboard then you do not have the
USB Enhanced Driver installed, USB 2 controler is not turned on in CMOS or
there is a problem with the MB USB controler (defective, connected
improperly, etc.).

If you are trying to connect to an external hub including the front ports on
your case these connections are not USB 2.0 compliant.

FWIW,

Len, The ports are directly on the MB. In the device
manager it says that the enhanced driver is loaded, and
when the message about high speed device connected to a
non high spped pops up, if you click on it it brings up a
list of "available ports" it lists 6 unused USB 2.0
ports.

I have sent the board back to ASUS see if they can figure
it out. Thanks for your input
