Hello. I've been tring to get Jane's USAF to run in Windows XP Pro for
years.

The game installs fine, but when you go to play it, none of the drop
down menu's work, which makes it hard because you have to go with the
defaults, and you can't change your ordnance, or change and settings.

I've tried that compatablity tool but I either installed it wrong, or
i do not fully know how to use it correctly.

TIA

I think this is just one of those that's impossible to sort out, I remember
someone with the same problem a few years back.

Had a search around on the net and can't find anyone saying they've got it
sorted so it could just be one of those that just wasn't designed properly
when it was in development, hense bits of it not working on NT.

You could look at dual-booting with Win9x.

Dual-Booting is out of the question. (for one all my drives are NTFS,
and 2, my motherboard isn't compatable w/ windows 98SE, and barely
compatable with WinME, the last time i used WinME i lost my RAID-0
stripe so i'm staying away from that OS as if it were a plauge.

WInME i bought it HA HA, funking crashed ALL THE ****ING TIME :)

Thank god for XP, or i would be still using 98Se :/

Works fine for me. using amd 1.2 GHz Athlon and GeForce 3 Ti500 card. didn't work until I got the drivers, 6.14.10.567

But now I have the problem in Janes IAF, i.e. can't see the preferences. Ended up setting them in winME, and copying the prefs.dat file, then I rename the file depending on what I want to do. example, one prefs file has rudders, one doesn't , one has expert ai, one has rookie, etc.

Speaking of Janes games on XP I had some advice on getting my Janes Fleet
Command to load on XP and I was told to replace the setup.exe and setup.dll
files with another Janes game (The author used Janes USAF) I dont have any
other Janes games can someone copy me the setup.exe and setup.dll from their
USAF so I can get Fleet Command to load.
