When I am typing in internet sites into the address bar,
a number of other websites that have the same name or
start with the same letters, words, etc., pop up under
what I am typing. For example, if I
type 'www.h', 'www.hotmail.com' comes up under it. If I
type 'www.g', 'www.google.ca' comes up with numerous
google searches. How do I get rid of these. I cleared the
history but these still keep coming. I hope you can
answer my question.
Thank you.

Hi Phil - To delete Addresses in the Drop Down list, go here and download
and install Mike Burgess' DelTypedURL .inf:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/download.htm

You can also get DelSearchMRU.inf here also to eliminate the Search Drop
Down history.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure that ALL instances of IE6 are CLOSED before you do
the install of this(these) .inf files.

A nice alternative just for selective or all Address (not Search) history
maintenance is EditURLs, here: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/ Here also,
you must close all instances of IE6 for the deletions to "take".
Recommended.

I guess you need to disable "automatic URL completion" option, if
possible, in IE. Try tools->Options (or preferences).
