I have a major problem. If I type, for example, cnn.com
instead of www.cnn.com (inter alia) my browser will go to
a page not found sort of thing. it has done this for about
3 weeks. Now it does this but then starts downloading some
internet porn web dialler. It is a real pain to remove it
too... I recently upgraded from 5.5 to 6 and the problem
is still there... any suggestions?

Porn web diallers are a definite Spyware threat!

Derick,
After you get cleaned up (check for Spyware)
Some program (usually spyware\parasite) may have overridden the URL prefix
setting?
Open Regedit to the following locations and verify the below default
entries:
Start | Run (type) "regedit" (no quotes)

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPre
fix]
@="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

Note: edit as needed, *always* Export before editing.
