urgent please

Im writing this on a friends laptop as my PC has aproblem. When starting XP
Pro I get S FAR AS password but the keyboard will not work. It makes a
bleeping noise when trying each digit. Is there any way to bypass or to open
safe mode etc The keyboard works ok on another machine

If your mouse works but your keyboard is not then it is
probably rectifiable in your bios. Hit delete during the
booting process to enter the bios and see if your
prefferals are distributed evenly through the ports. You
can also turn on safe mode, and access the XP desktop.
