UPS Overload

UPS cut power to PC because of "overload". Just PC running though, no
printer. First time this happens. UPS is still fairly new. Is this
indicative of a dying PC? (it's five years old). PC restarted normally after
that shutdown.

Could be a defective UPS.
You haven't given us much detail on the PC in question...

5 years old tells us squat.
I have several 5 year old home computers that wouldn't last 1 second if
connected to a BackUPS 350 or 550.

It's indicitave of an undersized UPS
 
PC is just an ordinary Compaq XP Home, 15in CRT monitor. UPS is 525VA 315W.
6 months old, guaranteed three years. Maybe a UPS fluke. Everything working
fine today. Will repost if problem crops up again. Thanks a mil for the

315 Watts is not a lot. Your CRT monitor will take 100 or so, and
your PC's power supply may very well be rated 225 or 250.
 
what do the stats show on wattage used and time to live on batteries.
