...anyone know where, and which, log file contains input from uphclean ?
A log file is mentioned in:-

but, doesn't say which one.

While rummaging in Event Viewer, there's a :-

Unable to start a DCOM Server: {FB7199AB-79BF-11D2-8D94-0000F875C541}

fault at the top of the Event Viewer | System list of events.

How about 2nd paragraph in:-

....ages ago I used a MVP *.vbs script to remove MSN Messenger.
