I have a computer that I bought with XP home and I will be upgrading the OS
to XP Professional, I have windows office already installed. Will I have to
re-install it?

You just install Windows XP Professional over the exsisting Windows XP
Home to get upgraded,it keeps your exsisting settings, files, and all
your applications intact. You don't need to reinstall Office.

Hi,

No, you shouldn't have to. However, make sure the version of Pro that you
have is at least at the same service pack level as the Home installation. In
other words, don't try to upgrade a HomeSP2 installation with a ProSP1 disk
(it won't work).

Not if you use the retail Pro upgrade or You can use the OEM version to
upgrade. OEM versions only do clean installs.

By definition, an "upgrade" (as opposed to a clean installation) means that
all data, programs, etc. are kept intact.

However there are no guarantees that it always works perfectly. However
unlikely, it's always possible that something might go wrong. For that
reason it's prudent to be sure you have a backup of anything you can't
afford to lose before beginning.

In theory no, you wont have to re-install it. In practice, yes, you
"might" have to. But so what, you have the CD right?
