upgrading to 64 bit windows

Maybe, maybe not. The proper place to ask is the distributor of each of the
programs you want to make sure will still work. Of bigger concern is usually
finding 64 bit drivers for all the hardware if it's not supported natively.

Not until you reinstall them.

There is no way to perform an in-place upgrade to WinXPx64; this
edition of the OS is available only as an OEM product, so it cannot
perform an upgrade from an earlier version of Windows.
