I have recently upgraded a PC from WIn98 to Win 2000
Professional. Microsoft Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711) was
already running on Win98. After upgrade, all files are
gone. Are they really or have they moved? Thanks

Your PST files are probably still there - do a search for *.pst and make
sure you search hidden/system folders as well.

General advice-

When doing upgrades, it is always wise to back up your data first. I
personally don't like to leave anything in the default data folders Windows
suggests - I create a data folder on the hard drive, redirect My Documents
to it, and move all my files there. For PST files, with Outlook closed, move
the PST file to that new folder (e.g., c:\data\outlook) and rename it
yourname.pst to avoid confusion - then open Outlook and when it says it
can't find the file, direct it to the new location.

Other programs such as Intuit software seem to insist on putting their data
in the program files folder created by Quicken or Quickbooks - I manually
move those files over, too.

This way, you have only one folder (c:\data) to worry about backing up - you
won't get absolutely everything you used, such as IE favorites, etc., but
you'll get most of what you need.

Thank you for ur response. I did do a search for *.pst to
no avail. (Viewing all files including hidden). Any other
format or ideas? Thanks again

Note that Lanwench told you to look in hidden and system FOLDERS...not for
hidden files. Outlook often puts its data files in hidden folders in
Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
