I have Windows XP Home Edition on my pc which I upgraded with the beta
release of SP2.

I want to replace this with Win XP Professional. However when I try to run
the Pro install CD (SP1) I get an error message saying the install won't run
because the computer already has a more recent edition installed.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks

Can you not remove the SP2, upgrade to 'Pro', then reinstall SP2?

you will have to uninstall the service pak before
upgrading.
its only a beta, and unless you want to test for
microsoft its better to wait for the finished version.

Go to Add and Remove Programs. Check the box in the top of the window to
show updates. Then locate and remove SP2. Or better yet do a clean install
of XP Pro.

Greetings --

Uninstall the SP2 Beta before trying to upgrade to Pro.
