I have a system I am trying to upgrade for a client that
is running xp home edition to xp pro. The reason is, with
xp pro they can not see the network drives on the server
(Novell 3.1 yes, I know it's ancient). When I try to do
the upgrade it gets stuck on a nvidia agp filter. It says
I have to remove the application because it is not
compatible. I have tried and tried to upgrade drivers but
to no avail I have went to add remove programs and removed
an nvidia app, but I still run into the same issue. I
don't see nvidia agp filter anywhere on the pc. Any ideas
would be appreciated.

XP home doesn't prevent the user from seeing network drives - it (the
PC) just can't "join" or become a "member" of the domain - mapping drives on
a network resource works just fine. The problem may be XP doesn't have the
proper Novell Client installed for that version of Novell on your network -
also I doubt you'll find an XP compatible client for Novell 3.1, check if
the network is running capable of running a MS Client or just plain old
TCP/IP.
As far as your video problem, I would uninstall the NVIDIA video driver
(the agp filter is part of the NVIDIA driver package) from XP Home (just run
on the WinXP default) before starting the XP Pro upgrade, then after the
upgrade completes, reinstall the latest/greatest NVIDIA driver. If you
can't get it to uninstall then you may end up making sure you have all the
device drivers for XP Pro on the laptop and do a clean install of XP Pro,
just backup any important user files first of course :-)
