Upgrading from Windows NT 4.0 - 2 Questions

My office computer originally came with Windows 2000, but
I encountered numerous problems with older software,
including MS Office 97, and finally regressed to Windows
NT 4.0. I think NT has a 4GB limit on the size of the
primary partition, so I had to partition my hard drive. I
also lost the use of my USB ports and my sound card (I
think because it's plug and play).
When I install Windows XP Prof., will it find the USB
ports and sound card even though they don't exist in the
Windows NT registry?
I guess I'm stuck with the disk partitions, but I would
like to move the Documents and Settings folder to the
second partition, which has much more space. Does the
Documents and Settings folder have to be on the same
drive where Windows is installed?
Thanks for your help.

Greetings --

In your specific situation, I really can't recommend performing an
upgrade. The 4 Gb system partition will be awfully small for WinXP,
which generally requires 1.5 Gb just for the OS. If you don't have at
least 2 Gb of free space for temp files, you probably won't even be
able to perform the installation.

But, yes, WinXP will probably detect both your USB controllers and
audio card.
