upgrading from win98 se

Whilst upgrading from win98se to xp pro i seem to have
lost everything that was in the 98se version of "my
documents" including some important photos of my daughter
which cannot be replaced etc. Is there any way i can
retrieve these.

Oh yes, the pictures obviously mean so much to you that you couldn't be
arsed to spend 30 minutes or so backing them up.

Your daughter can't mean that much to you either, come to that.
