Upgrading from Win 2000 Pro to XP

Unable to upgrade to XP Home from 200Pro. Sony says
Microsoft problem, Microsoft says Sony problem.
Any way to upgrade or must install new verison?

It's neither a Microsoft problem nor a Sony problem. This
behavior is by design. Win2K, as it says prominently on the Microsoft
web site, can only be upgraded to WinXP Pro. If you'll look at your
WinXP Home packaging, _nowhere_ will it claim that the product can be
used to upgrade Win2K. You'll have to perform a clean installation
using a full version (not an upgrade) if you want to transition from
Win2K Pro to WinXP Home.

This may be impertinant, but I personally have no desire to "upgrade"
from windows 2000 to XP. Is there any good reason to do so?
