I have just bought the Pro Upgrade and get hundreds of file not found
messages during the install. I browsed the CD to no avail. I browsed a
different PC with Home only installed and found several of them. Any ideas?
I tried the "skip this file" routine (over and over again) and completed the
upgrade
install, but I have no confidence that the upgrade was good.

Problems copying files or corrupted files during installation are
most often caused by defective, incompatible, or sub-standard hardware
(probably the same defective component that caused the crash in the
first place); in order of likelihood, either RAM, the hard drive, or the
motherboard. On very rare occasions the CD drive or installation CD is
the problem.

This sounds like bad hardware. Often a system that will install previous
versions of Windows will choke on XP. Flaky RAM is a typical culprit. So are
hard drives, motherboards, powersupplies and CD-Rom drives
