Upgrading from 98 to XP home

Do i need to save all my files and programs if i want to
upgrade from win 98 win XP or will they be transfered
during upgrade?

They will be transferred when you select the upgrade, but you still need to
backup all important files you cannot replace from other media. Always
approach upgrades as a major event that has the potential for catastrophic
data loss. A simple power interruption can cause all your hard drive
information to be inaccessible.

When you upgrade, consider it mandatory to prepare as if you were doing a
