The company I work for is being forced into upgrading
windows from 95 to xp because the software (peachtree)
cannot update on the outdated 95.All the invoicing and
payroll are in the pc when I install the xp will the
information still be the same in the peachtree program or
will it be lost unless I create backup discs. In fact will
all be lost as far as all the files in the pc?(My
documents etc.?)

You cannot upgrade from Windows 95 to XP, you can only do a clean install.
You need to consult with Peachtree on how to migrate your current data to
the new computer.
