upgrading bios

i have a K7S5a motherboard and i had an AMD duron 1.2ghz
cpu, now i hv a athalon XP2000 cpu but its still being
read as a 1.2......i understand amd runs differnt then
intel but as far as i know it should be reading at 1.6 to
1.7 ghz....could u please forward some info to help in
this matter ty i appreciate all the help guys and girls
 
You have your multiplier settings wrong. Go into your bios and you will find
a setting which will let you increase the front side bus speed to 133. You
are currently set at 100.

This is not an XP issue. You need to go to the AMD site
and do some searching and reading on BIOS settings. Good
luck.

Read your motherboard manual to learn how to set the FSB. Your FSB
(front side bus speed) is incorrect. Normally this is either set by
jumpers on the MB or sometimes the CMOS setup program itself can do
it.
