I upgraded to XP from 98 and now i get a message stating that the shell32.dll
is corrupt and just turns my computer on and off. Does anyone know how to fix
this or should I just buy a new computer

hmmmmmmmm interesting question. I take it that since you had 98 installed
previously that your computer is 7-8 years old. Correct? May I ask what your
hardware specs are? How much memory and what size CPU? I've found through
experience that whenever you upgrade OS's it is best to do a clean install.
Especially if you're going from 98 consider the worst OS Microsoft ever
released. Before you go and buy a new PC try a claen install and see how
performance is like then.

Are you serious?
"...or should I just buy a new computer"

If you can afford to do that, and your last computer was Windows 98 for a
LONG time now - why even ask?

If you cannot afford to do that, then give us more information - like what
you did to check if your computer was Windows XP ready before upgrading..
What type of Windows XP (Home, Pro, Retail Full or Retail Upgrade) you
bought and installed with.. etc..

I think a lot of people would disagree with that, as Windows Millenium is
by far the worst windows OS ever released by M$. It was a lame attempt at
hacking together the MS-DOS based Windows98 with the UI of Windows 2000. It
really only lasted 2 years, as XP came out in October (?) 2001.
