i just installed a new motherboard/cpu in my computer, and xp wont boot. in
past when this has happened, i had to reinstall xp over the previous
install, leaving the file system intact. but the result is that i have to
reinstall all my software. is there anyway to repair wiindows xp after
upgrading the motherboard/cpu with out reinstalling windows xp?

thanks,

Thanks everyone, the upgrade went mostly well. I didin't have to reinstall
any of my applications. but for some reason, now my video codec's don't
work. media player, ati tv tuner, or my ati file player only offer sound, no
video. tried reinstalling direct x & divx codex, sofar no luck. looks like i
might have to do reinstall of software from clean install after all.

thanks again

Kirk

After a repair reinstall, you need to redo all the Windows
Updates (hope you have a broadband connection or the free
Windows Security Update CD) and many drivers will need to be
updated too.
