Upgraded CPU, now system is slower?

I just upgraded my cpu from a xp 1600 to a xp 2800, and upgraded my vid
card from a geforce fx5200 to an ATI radeon x800 pro...now the system
is slower than before, especially with things like extracting with
winrar. After installing cpu, I went into bios to set the frequency to
166, so the cpu would run at 333.

I have a shuttle AN35/n Ultra mobo.

Any ideas?
 
to be more clear, normal operations are faster. but things like
extracting, etc are slower, any reason for this?

Did you do a clean reinstall after the upgrade?

How did you remove the drivers and software of the geforce?

especially with things like extracting with
 
Most xp 1600 mobos will not upgrade that far. I think the
max is xp 2100. Did you check that? Also, that mobo is
probably only AGP 4. The X800 will run crippled, and I would
be surprised if your psupply is up to a card that demanding.

Checked out the mobo ... not bad for one that old. It must have
been a first for that much adaptability. I still wonder if there is
not a jumper or something, because that is a very big change
in CPU speed. Hmm ... might be you need new BIOS to go
that fast.

Does POST show correct CPU ID? Have you checked correct FSB? Is your
memory PC333? Download and run CPU-Z and check rating of memory by using SPD
tab.
