I foolishly bought Win 2K Pro when I got me current
computer. I say "foolishly" because now that I have
problems with it* neither the crooks at Gateway nor the
crooks in Redmond are willing to help me except that the
latter will deign to answer my questions for $250 apiece.
This is an added "benefit" of the Professional versions
they don't bother to trumpet on the box. Since it's going
to cost me $200 or more anyway, I'm thinking about
upgrading to XP. The question is, can I upgrade from 2K
Pro to XP Home or do I have to buy XP Pro?
* Actually the specific immediate problem is with the
Windows Media Player, but when I called Microsoft they
demanded the Windows serial number which contains the
letters "OEM" which apparently stand for "Bend over,
buddy. We've got your 'help' right here!"
