I just upgraded my system from XP Home which came with
the computer to XP Pro which I purchased separately.
Everything seemed to go ok and I have been using the
system with Pro ok until yesterday. All of a sudden none
of my USB ports seem to work. My printer wont print, mu
Palm wont hot-sync, and other theings dont work. I have
6 USB ports and they all dont seem to work. I switched
my printer to my laptop and it prints fine, same with the
Palm.

What happened? What do I check? I looked at the Device
Manager in the Control Panel and all the USB ports seem
to be functioning ok except the first line wich is the
PCI to USB item.

Hi,

The "PCI to USB" device, is a critical component. Download and install the
latest chipset drivers (VIA - hyperion / Intel -InF update driver) for your
system. If you dont know how to identify the chipset, get Belarc advisor, it
is free.

This should solve the problem.. Re-install the drivers for the printer, and
re-install the palm OS after this(get the latest off the palm site).

Best of luck,
