I bought a new Dell 4600C, loaded with XP Home. I already had a computer that I had previously purchased XP Professional for and have been using. I opted to buy the Dell with the home edition knowing I already owned the professional edition. According to Dell I cannot load my prefessional edition because it is incompatible with the sytem

However if I buy the upgrade from them, it will be compatible. This all cam about because I attepted to upgrade the system and it shut down

Any help???

If you wish to not invalidate your Dell warranty, purchase the
Dell version of Windows XP Pro which includes the proper
hardware drivers. You cannot install your current copy of
XP Pro on the new computer because you would need a new
license to do so if you continue to use XP Pro on your other PC.
