I have laptop(Fujitsu Lifebook C-Series Notebook) that
came Windows-XP home edition installed. When I was
upgrading from XP Home-edition to XP Professional it said
that one of my hardware component doesn't have Windows-Logo
& gave two options :

1. Don't install software for that particular piece of HW
and check with vendor for Windows-Logo (This was Microsoft
recommended).

2. Second option was to install SW for that HW but it may
destablize the system (Not recommended).

As usual I opted microsoft recommendation (i.e. Don't
install SW for that HW). It completed installing and in the
end when it was cleaning temporary files ..... the
procedure got stuck. I put-off the power and put it on
again. Windows-XP professional logon screen appeared but
didn't allow me to login, error appeared as follows:

Windows Product Activation: A problem is preventing windows
from accurately checking the license for this computer,
Error Code: 0x80004005

At this point I thouht let me reboot/install from CD again.
I used the option to upgrade again. It did preparing step
correctly but when came to installation (i.e. installing
devices) it suddenly rebooted with saying an Error was
detected, try to reboot in safe mode. This keeps happening.

I have some data/programs in hard-disk, I don't want to
loose them.

I bought Windows-XP professional CD from University
Campus. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Try to retrieve the files before installing xp pro,shut-
down computer,on starting,tap the F8 key,try starting
last good known configuration mode.Safe-mode if last
doesnt work,The other try,install xp home cd,reboot,
boot to cd,select recovery,if it asks for password, press
enter-key,in recovery,youll need to type:Dir
That should list all files, typing:Dir /? should bring up
menu to edit.307654 in search at microsoft will get you
recovery info. After, booting to xp pro cd,will get install-
ation too,sometimes better results.
