My standalone home pc was set up for me, with 2000 server as the operating
system. Does anyone know if an upgrade can be performed from this to xp home
or professional?

There is no supported path from any version of server to any version of
workstation operating system or vice versa.

I don't think so but then I haven't tried.

No. Your only upgrade path is to Windows 2003 Server.

To install WinXP Pro or HE, you will have to wipe the PC and install WinXP from scratch.
