I am trying to upgrade a system running NT 4.0
Workstation. The upgrade utility hangs at "Initializing
configuration" after the files are copied. NT will no
longer boot, and XP upgrade just keeps copying the files
again and stopping at the same point. Any ideas?

Did you run the Windows XP Upgrade Advisor?
Did you physically disconnect your hardware peripherals?
Did you uninstall any antivirus programs?

It is imperative that you have the latest BIOS update installed. Visit the support
website of the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard for instructions
on updating your computer's BIOS.
