Silly question but is it OK to remove the older $NtUninstall dirs ... I don't
see a need for them and they do take up alot of room ...

Thanks in advance

Hi DaleG,

If you are confident that you won't be wanting to uninstall them, then yes,
you can safely delete the folders.

If you also would like to remove the lines, in Add/Remove Programs that
relate to each of the updates for which you have deleted the $NTUninstall
folder, select the reference to the item and then click on the Remove button.
XP will attempt to locate the uninstall file and, when the file cannot be
found, it will return an "error" message and ask you if you wish to remove
the entry from Add/Remove Programs.

Regards,

In addition to Patti's post, Doug Knox has a utility to automate their
removal and the removal of their entries in Add/Remove programs.

Do not remove the $hf_mig$ folder. It's needed for future updates.

I haven't seen it for some time but i have seen microsoft windows downloads
that tell you once downloaded can not be removed.

What can't be removed? Yes there are some updates that once installed
cannot be removed, though most can. Are you referring to something else?
