I'm already using Windows Live Mail.....there is no option to use anything
else in Vista. WLM doesn't even have an option to import my *.WAB contacts
from outlook express. No wonder Dell HAD to go back to offering XP. Vista
is a POS!

Sure it does. You're not looking in the correct place.
Open the Contacts folder
File - Import - Windows Address Book (WAB)

I'm using Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Outlook and Thunderbird.

OK thanks. Found it. But it doesn't do me any good. Windows Mail doesnt do
(e-mail address removed) .

Best,
Karl

You are misinformed. WLM will imports contacts from six formats,
including .WAB.

Windows Mail will do MSN if you have the premium version that
has access via a POP server rather than a HTTP server.
You may have to fool the new account setup wizard by giving
it something like (e-mail address removed). Then after the account is
set up, go back into the Properties and correct the email address.

In Windows Live Mail click Tools (Alt-T if you don't see the menu) Contacts.
In Windows Live Contacts click File | Import. What's the top choice.
You could have asked instead of making a pronouncement that it can't be
done.

Thanks Gary,

I'll try that. How do I know if I have the "Premium" version. This new
laptop probably does not. I just bought it last weekend from Wallmart. $345.
Windows home basic, 1 meg 80gig Celeron 15.4......the only "deal" I've had
on a PC.
I wish I had the $$$ I spent on my first 386!

Gary.....You are genius! I now have my msn pop3 account coming through
Windows Mail!!! And the software said it couldn't be done.

YES!!!
POP3 forever!

The ONLY option I see are favorites, cookies, and feeds!

But now I have Windows Mail set up and feel better, using Gary's TRICK!

Best, Karl....Only 46 days and they start getting LONGER!

The new account setup wizard in Windows Mail is not very smart.
It assumes that all @msn.com and @hotmail.com accounts are
webmail (HTTP) only. Glad to hear you got it working.

I have no idea what program you're clicking Tools in. I don't get anything
remotely like that in Windows Live Mail.

Frank,

I was able to download my contact in Windows Live. But with nothing like you
posted.

contacts
options
import options
download and run contacts importer
install and run contacts importer

There seems no other way to deal with a *.WAB file.

Karl

You and Frank may be talking about different programs.
There currently is no program named "Windows Live". That one
was renamed to Windows Live Hotmail back in May.
The latter only does webmail access for MSN/Hotmail accounts.

Don't confuse it with Windows Live Mail, which is a full-blown
POP/IMAP email client like Windows Mail, plus news reader, plus
MSN/Hotmail access.

Karl,
Now you are talking about the Live Hotmail (webmail).

Frank was talking about Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail (desktop
clients).
