Updating Windows XP

Recently, I've had to reinstall XP on my PC. Now I am
unable to download and install necessary updates for my
OS. How can I remedy this situation?
 
windowsupdate server is all screwed up. The server was under constant attack
on Thursday and Friday
from the msblast worm and other variants. They had to put the windowsupdate
on a Linux server. I would just wait a day or 2
