updating to network drive

i really dont know where to ask this question...anyway...

windows xp pro...
when i update several documents on my c drive....is there a program that
would tell me which ones are not updated on my network O drive?

i have tried "new briefcase" and it locks up all the time and I discovered
that if you change one file in a folder...all of the other files indicate
that they need updating even though they have not been changed.

any ideas?
