updating multiple data sheet links

My PowerPoint presentation has many charts whose data sheets link to
information in Excel spreadsheets. To update the charts and the data sheets,
I must go to every chart and manually open and close each data sheet. Is
there any way to automate this time-consuming task in PowerPoint?
