Should i uninstall windows 98 before installing windoes xp?
I was in the process of updating to xp and recieved the
message: A previous version already exists. Will windows
xp overwrite windows 98? Thanks for your help.

If you do not have an update copy of Windows XP then it
most likely will. One thing you can try however is to run
the XP CD once you have already booted into Windows. It
all depends on if you want to save settings or not though.

I would start by doing it as an upgrade, which you do by running the XP
CD *from* the Win98 and taking Install - Upgrade. Unless you have
bought one of the OEM CDs that will *only* do a clean install. Read
Gary Woodruff's article on upgrading to XP at
