Whenever I change the value of a cell the sum does not update. What I mean is if "A1 + A2 = A3" and then I change the value of "A1" then "A3" should update with the new sum, but it does not. It won’t update till I do a save. This is not a good thing because if you do a save then you can’t undo anything before that save. How do I get it to update automatically

Thanks
Shan

Hi Shane
you probably have deactivated 'automatic calculation' (in the lower
left corner of your statusbar the word 'Calculation' appears'). Try
going to 'Tools - Options - Calculate' an check 'automatic calculation'

Shane

Tools>Options>Calculation. Set to "Automatic".

Excel takes the Calculation mode each session from the settings on the first
workbook opened in that session.

i.e. If you saved Book1 with calc mode in manual and opened it first, calc
mode would be in Manual.

If you saved Book2 with calc mode in auto and opened it after Book1, Book2
would be in manual mode(Excel ignores the auto calc mode in this case).

If you close Book1 before opening Book2, Book2 will be in auto calc mode.

Confusing enough? <g>
