Hi,

I am using WinXP Prof with Office XP. I am using Outlook
in IMAP mode( as my admin provides only in IMAP).
Whenever I click on any of the Public folders, the machine
hangs for some time saysing "Updating Cached headers" or
"Fetching new headers". Is there any way that Outlook
also downloads the headers fast as done by Outlook
Express.

Regards,
Anil.

I'm having the same annoying problem.
Tried 3 different imap servers ( courier, dovecot and
wu imap ) and nothing makes a difference. Everytime
I change a user changes folder in Outlook it starts caching or fetching
headers and stays like that for long time. Some folders
have 20000-30000 messages in them. I also tried opening
the same mail accounts with Eudora, Mozilla and Outlook Express
and none of those programs had any problems opening those mailboxes,
without any delays or repetitive fetching and caching.

Can somebody help ?? If Outlook can not cope with large amounts
of mail, can at least the message be moved into background ?
some hotfix or registry hack ?

This is the same behaviour in Outlook 2002 and 2003.

thank you
