Hello,

I have created a pivot table in Excel using the data from a SQL 2005
database. Is it possible to make changes to the data and save it back to the
SQL database?

Thanks

David

I know you can do this in Access depending on your connection settings. I
would be curious to find out if it can be done in Excel also.

Is there a resource where I can find more info on creating a pivot table in
Excel using SQL data? The excel help doesn't tell me what I want to know.
If there is an existing pivot table how can I tell the data source? I know
it is external data and suspect it is a SQL table, but can figure out which
one. Also, in using multiple tables in Access I had to create a
relationship in order for the data to display correctly do you have to do
the same in Excel if using multiple tables?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I am not an expert on Excel or Pivot tables for that matter. Using Excel
2007, I simply used the Data tab, and chose 'From Other Sources' and
selected the SQL server. Once connected using a valid username and password,
I selected the table I wanted to use. Excel then asked me if I wanted the
data returned as a Table or a PivotTable Report.
