I have not updated to SP2, on my XP Home. However, when I go to ADD-REMOVE
programs, for another reason, I see that there are 8 updates that have been
installed, bearing the suffix of SP2. This doesn't sound healthy. Today when I
installed a new game, the first in a long while, the cursor is erratic, only on
this game. I would like to now if there is a connection...and should there be
these downloaded SP2 updates on a SP1 system? Thanks, Dick M.

The naming convention can be confusing. Long story short: If Windows XP
Service Pack 2 is not listed in Add/Remove Programs (make sure the Show
Updates box is checked), you have no SP2 updates installed.

Now whether you're wise not have installed SP2 and post-SP2 updates is
another matter. Understand that they will come a time in the very near
future where you won't be able to get *any* updates if SP2 is not installed.
