Hi All,

I just formatted my PC because it was giving me problems, so I re-installed
XP Pro w/SP1 and went to the Windows Update site to download critical
updates. It scans my PC and finds only 1 update (BITS) but I am never able
to install it because it fails all the time

This is ever since Windows changed the Updates page, has anyone else had
these problems?

I don't want to install SP2, just the critical updates less SP2 (too many
problems)

Stu

I suspect this error is related to QGMR.DLL QGMR.PRXY or Loadqm

search regedit for QMGR ... should find keys for QMGR.DLL and QMGRPRXY ...
see if they is actually in the folder(s) the keys say
they should be in .... System32 folder etc

a Manual download/install of KB842773 seems to add a key to locate QMGR
in System32 folder .... but with "show all files show system files etc etc
....... it is NOT in that folder ....

Many people deleted LoadQM and QMGR files since it "ate processor cycles,
slowed the computer" etc etc and search engine searches on the web
recommended deleting it ... not knowing you actually need it now ... :)

The trick now is finding the correct "version" somewhere to put there :)

Would be great if there was a dealie to just click or a patch for "the
thousands of ppl who deleted loadqm and all qmgr files" after MSN Instant
messenger instaled them years ago and decided that is still the thing to do
in XP
