I really didn't pay much attention to the updates being installed but I went
to work to let them update and when i got back my screen was on the windows
log-in screen but with NO LOG-IN buttons. I have no way to log in to my
computer. I do have a password set up for it but i never told windows to
restart or shut down my computer. So now all i can get to is the screen
where the Windows log-in is and that is it. No buttons to guide me to where i
need to go!?!!? I am very confused and very helpless. Please help me! Is
there any way I can get into windows?? Is there any way i can turn off my
password without going into windows??? Please help..I am in much need!!!
THANKS!!!

Hi,
I am having the same problem with the latest updates. I had to restore to a
day before the updates so I could logon to my computer. I hope someone has
a suggestion because I know it's important to keep my computer up-to-date
with updates.
Thanks in advance,
Alice

I'm having problems as well, slightly different to yours, but on log in. I
get an error message when trying to log in.
I pressed F5 and F8 (couldn't remember which of the 2 it is!) as XP was
loading.
Don't bother with 'safe mode' problem persists, click on 'last known good
configuration'
I can now get into XP but it doesn't solve my problem as it keeps recurring
because it's still trying to install the same updates that caused me this
trouble.
Good luck

Hi,

There must be something wrong with the updates because I had the same
problem. The only way I solved it was to to a system restore to a point
before the updates downloaded. It worked for me. Then I turned off
automatic update. I think the next time I'll read up on what there is to
download before I download it. Anyway, I hope it works for you.

Alice
