Well how's about you give us something to go on. What do you mean "won't
install for some reason"? Are there any errors? Are you running a legitimate
copy of XP?

Hi Bob, a few suggestions, if nothing works try the WU Newsgroup and give a few
more details and also state what you have done so far.

If Updates fail to install:-
If you receive a 643 error message or a message indicating that Windows Update
was unable to complete the operation. This may occur if the catalog database
(Edb.log) is damaged.
Try this:-
Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
del /q "%SystemRoot%\System32\Catroot2\Edb.log
This command will force the catalog database to rebuild itself.

I just don't understand why you're not an MVP. It's been awarded to people
who know *FAR* less than you (not that I'm going to name any names here!) I
shall have to have words. Your advice is accurate, and you're far more
restrained than some (and, yes, I am looking at me here!) I have friends
within the MVP community, I shall have to see that your name is mentioned
the next time they meet.

Blessings
