Is there any reason why:

1) Security/office uptdates won't install (fail) after several tries.

2) The failure is not listed in update history.

Thank you.

There is a windows update newsgroup and an officeupdate newsgroup. You
might get better help with this (these)
issue(s) if you post to one of those groups.

Have you looked at the detail in the WindowsUpdate.log located in your
Windows folder? What does it say?

Hope this helps.

I find the following errors:

From the windows update log: WARNING: WU client failed installing updates
with error 0x80240020;
also: Service WARNING: GetUserTokenFromSessionId failed

I am the only person on this computer.

I also find that the logs for some of the specific downloads show failure to
install.

Since the windows update site shows zero size for the needed downloads, I
assume they are already somewhere on the computer but won't install.

How do I either get them to install or delete them so that windows will let
me start again?

Thank you.

Have you posted to the windows update site?

Error messages that you may receive when you try to download and install
updates from the Windows Update Web site, from the Microsoft Update Web
site, or from a WSUS server: "0x800704DD," "0x80240020," or both
